As an Minibus Escort you will be required to complete KCC Passenger Safety training course before commencing your escorting duties. This is to ensure the safety and well-being of the people we support during their journey.

We have an exciting opportunity arisen within our Community Day Service, you will work across the Canterbury & Swalecliffe locality, supporting Individuals with learning and/or physical disabilities to access and be a part of their local community, you will be working from various hubs within the locality.  Assisting the people we support to get on and off the minibus, ensuring seatbelts are fastened, wheelchairs secured, and bags stowed away in accordance with acceptable safety standards.

You will assist in meeting the needs and aspirations of people with learning disabilities by using a person centred approach, providing them with encouragement, support and assistance, promoting their social inclusion and promoting their rights and choice under the supervision and direction of a senior member of staff and within the context of County and Directorate procedures, as well as primary care legislation, to enable people with learning disabilities to live more independent and fulfilled lives.
 
Relevant experience of care and support of other individuals (this can include voluntary experience and personal experiences as well as paid work), including within the public, private or voluntary sectors in the care of adults, working with people with learning disabilities. You will need to have an awareness of the needs of people with learning disabilities with challenging behavior, autism, epilepsy, and other disabilities.
 
You will be expected to complete all mandatory training relevant to the role.  Follow the County Council's Code of practice and training provided by the county Council to maintain the people we support, staff, and public safety whilst carrying out escorting duties .
 
This post is a split shift, two hours in the morning - 08.00 - 10.00 and two hours in the afternoon - 15.00 - 17.00

KCC pay mileage but you do need to show a valid driving licence, MOT certificate & Business use insurance, we pay 45p per mile for work related mileage (over and above your usual home to work mileage)
 
This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service.
 
This post is considered by KCC to be a customer-facing position. The Council therefore has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016) to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English/Welsh sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements.
