We have an exciting opportunity to join the East Kent Children in Care Service as a Business Support Officer for a fixed period until 31 March 2025. The role is based at Brook House in Whitstable, and is not considered to be a remote working position.

We are looking for someone who is able to work 24 hours per week Monday to Friday, with an ideal working pattern of:

  • Monday & Tuesday: 09:00–14:00 (with a 30-minute break)
  • Wednesday to Friday: 09:00–14:30 (with a 30-minute break)

As a Business Support Officer, you will support Social Work Practitioners and Team Managers on a range of tasks and work alongside colleagues to assist in the smooth running of the Business Support Service in East Kent. This is a varied and challenging post and requires someone with excellent organisation and communication skills and previous administrative experience.

To succeed in this role you will need to have an empathetic caring approach, with the ability to remain emotionally resilient. You will need to be able to proactively manage your workload and support the wider team, whilst responding to urgent requests and deadlines. You will often be the first point of contact for the service and need to be confident in liaising with families, colleagues, and professionals within a multi-agency environment.

We are seeking a proactive and organised individual with strong administrative experience and confidence in managing a diverse range of responsibilities. The role involves providing comprehensive and confidential business support, including accurate case recording using electronic systems.

A key aspect of the role is supporting a high volume of meetings—this includes scheduling, coordinating logistics, and producing clear, timely, and accurate minutes. Proficiency in using a variety of IT packages is essential, along with the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

We are seeking someone who can confidently manage a range of tasks while remaining adaptable to incoming and unpredictable demands, in order to effectively support our practitioners. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy variety, and are comfortable working to tight deadlines, this role could be a great fit for you. No two days will be the same.

In return we can offer you:

  • 28 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Generous contributory pension scheme
  • Training and an ongoing plan for development

Please note applications are reviewed on a continual basis. We reserve the right to close this vacancy prior to the published closing date should we receive suitable applications. Early applications are encouraged.
